Yasmin Acree was 14 years old when she disappeared from her west side Chicago neighborhood in January of 2008. Detectives learned through her diary that she had contact with Jimmi Tyrell Smith, who had previously been arrested on rape charges of under aged girls, and had also spent 10 years in prison for an attempted murder charge. The man had lived in the same apartment complex as Yasmin, but had moved out shortly before her disappearance. On the morning she vanished, there were signs of a break in to her home. Her adoptive mother doesn't think the teen ran away because her prescription glasses were left behind. She would have likely taken them with her. In 2009, Tyrell Smith said he knew what happened to Yasmin, but has never released any details.
